The Masseria Organization, eventually called the Luciano Crime Family and then the Genovese Crime Family was passed down several times and can trace it routes back directly to immigrants from Sicily at the turn of the 20 century.
Atlantic City was mostly controlled by two men throughout its illustrious history. While it was known as the meeting place and even the playground for gangsters, Enoch Johnson ruled Atlantic City with an iron first through Prohibition which prevented it from deadly gang wars and heavy police prosecution such as in places like New York and Chicago.
